Open Professor Position at Brain Institute

The Brain Institute in Natal (Instituto do Cérebro – ICe) of the Federal University of Rio Grande do Norte (UFRN) invites applications for a tenure-track faculty position in the field of Cellular and Molecular Neurobiology at the Assistant Professor level. The application period is from August 12th to August 30th, 2024. The selection process includes a written exam, didactic exam, defense of memorial and professional activities project, as well as proof of titles. Evaluations are scheduled from November 24th to December 13th, 2024. Candidates can use either Portuguese or English in the contest.

The position offers an initial monthly salary of R$ 11,481.64 (about 2,000 USD) and benefits such as 13 salaries per year and 45 days of paid vacation. The position will be tenured by the Federal Government with a single confirmatory evaluation three years after hiring. UFRN encourages applications from foreign researchers. Applicants should hold a Ph.D. in Neuroscience or a related discipline, demonstrate excellence in research, and have a strong commitment to teaching.

Current research includes cognitive and systems neuroscience, molecular and cell neurobiology, computational neuroscience, and applied neurosciences. The ICe is a stakeholder of the Bioinformatics Center and has close interactions with the University Hospital Onofre Lopes, the Institute for Tropical Medicine, and the Digital Metropolis Institute of UFRN.
