In 2026, the gathering will hold special significance as the Brain Institute celebrates 15 years of activity. The symposium will be part of the anniversary celebrations, honoring the Institute’s longstanding commitment to neuroscience research, teaching, outreach, and scientific training.

Held at the ICe-UFRN Auditorium, the House Symposium brings together the Institute’s researchers and invited national and international guests. The event aims to share recent projects and findings in basic neuroscience research, encourage dialogue across disciplines, and strengthen institutional scientific collaborations. This year’s edition will feature Professor John Sakata, along with a program specially designed to celebrate the Institute’s 15th anniversary.

In addition to its traditional scientific program, the anniversary celebrations will include scientific, cultural, and social activities designed to foster a sense of community among ICe members. Planned activities include a scientific treasure hunt, in which registered participants will answer trivia questions about the Institute’s history and scientific contributions; a photography and image competition inspired by neuroscience, highlighting both the scientific and aesthetic dimensions of the research conducted at the Institute and the environment in which it takes place; a chess competition; and social gatherings bringing together students, staff, researchers, collaborators, and former members of the Institute. The celebrations will conclude with a happy hour at Mahalila.

The theme of the 2026 edition is “One Shared Vision, Many Minds, Endless Connections.” Over the course of the two-day event, presentations, discussions, and other activities will seek to bring together different perspectives in neuroscience while celebrating the diversity of topics, approaches, and people that have shaped the Institute’s history. According to the organizing committee, the House Symposium is “a unique opportunity to connect early-career and experienced researchers, share methodologies, and foster new scientific collaborations.”

After all, we share one home, built through the dedication of many minds, each with its own journey, questions, and ways of thinking, yet all contributing to the collective pursuit of knowledge. It is precisely through these encounters that connections emerge and continue to multiply, opening new pathways for science and for the future of the Institute.

About the Brain Institute

Founded in 2011, the Brain Institute of the Federal University of Rio Grande do Norte (ICe-UFRN) celebrates its 15th anniversary in 2026. Over the years, it has established itself as a leading center for neuroscience research and training, bringing together researchers, students, and professionals from diverse fields to study the brain and behavior. Its researchers publish in prominent international scientific journals and contribute to training new generations of scientists, advancing Brazilian neuroscience, and strengthening the connection between the university and society.

Warm regards,

The Organizing Committee

YOUTUBE LIVE STREAM:https://www.youtube.com/iceufrn Greetings On November 26 and 27, the Brain Institute of the Federal University of Rio Grande do Norte (ICe-UFRN) will host the 11th edition of the House Symposium, an event open to the entire academic community and the general public.
